Artistic sculpture of a woman with large, intricate, wing-like extensions.

DAEDALUS

 2023
Durational performance-installation

Human X Machina
Curated by Luis Valenzuela
MIFA Gallery, Miami, FL

Materials: wire, recycled plastic, dyed textile, paper, sound, live voice

 DESCRIPTION

The artist stands elevated within a suspended wing structure constructed from wire, recycled plastic, and dyed textile. Her arms remain fully extended inside the wings, holding their span open throughout the duration of the work.

For two continuous hours, she remains upright without water, her eyes closed. Every forty-five minutes, she opens them and activates a live recitation of the poem Daedalus, completing the sequence three times during the performance.

The audience surrounds the structure in silence.

CONTEXT

The work reactivates the figure of Daedalus not as heroic inventor but as a body suspended within its own creation. Through endurance and voice, the performance reflects on technological complicity, authorship, and the fragile boundary between invention and entrapment.
